In 1885 the oldest Munich brewery had a Berlin branch by the architect Gabriel Seidl at Friedrichstrasse 172. The "bar of the brewery to spade" is celebrated as the most modern beer palace of the imperial capital and "is the only house in Berlin that is only created as a beer house as a whole. [...] As a special merit of this building, the great simplicity of the form is to look at a bourgeois art in the best sense, which, in conscious contrast to the overload experienced in Berlin up to that point, stood up with a Renaissance motifs. " [From: Architects' Association for Berlin and Association of Berlin Architects (ed.), Berlin and its buildings, Volume III, 2nd edition, Berlin 1896, page 5f.] The building is not preserved.
