Safety Harbor
The Safety Harbor School was constructed in 1916 of red brick and located at 535 Fifth Avenue North. The school educated students in 1st through 9th grade. A Hurricane in 1921 partially destroyed the building. The school was restored and in 1926 this building was expanded to have an auditorium and more classrooms, which is the two-story building standing today. This three-story section of the building was torn down in 1961. The 1926 additions were remodeled, and a 14 classroom wing was added. In 1962, the Safety Harbor School became an elementary school as grades seven through nine were moved to the middle school.
