The world's first shot-casting tower was created in 1782 by adding a 50-foot tower to a house dating to approximately 1680. The house itself was of historical importance since it was one of the oldest surviving brick houses in Bristol. However, the historical significance was usually ignored by the urban planners of 1950-1960, and this remarkable building was demolished in 1968. In the background is a 15-story building - the Robinson Building, built in 1963 on the corner of Redcliff Street and Victoria Street and is considered the first high-rise the building of Bristol.
