Monument of Lysicrates Monument of Lysicrates (Choregic monument of Lysicrates, the lamp of Diogenes) - a monument in Athens near the Acropolis, erected in 334 BC. e. In ancient Athens, performances in the theater of Dionysus took place at the expense of wealthy people of the city, the so-called Khoreg (sponsors). The ferret who provided the funds for a better presentation of the year received a prize from the city authorities. The Athenian rich Lysicrates, the patron of many theatrical activities in the theater of Dionysus, erected a monument in honor of the victory of the play, the production of which he financed at Dionysius 334 BC.
