Right - side facade of the Opera House building. In 1903, a fire burned down the old building Lille Opera. A competition to design a new theater won the architect Louis-Marie Cordonnier, inspired by the architecture of the Opera Garnier in Paris and Italian teatrov.Opera de Lille was built in the period from 1907 to 1914. and officially opened in 1923. Why such a gap in the dates? At the beginning of WWI, in July 1914, still unfinished theater building occupied by German troops. During the four years of occupation, the theater was about a hundred performances. After the war the building was restored, "French Prime Minister" was held there in 1923 GV 1998 state theater require emergency closing in the middle of the season. Repair turned into an ambitious project to improve the functionality of the Opera building. Engaged in the reconstruction of the architects Patrice Nerink and Pierre-Louis Carlier.
