The intersection of Ocean Boulevard and Pine Avenue start this aerial, panoramic view of Long Beach. On the ocean side of the boulevard, left, is the sign for the State Theatre. This is followed by Kemp Studios next to the grassy, open area, Hoyt's Theatre, and the Blackstone Hotel. On the land side of Ocean Boulevard is the twelve story Heartwell Building at 19 Pine Avenue, built in 1925, the four story Hotel Schuyler, and, at the corner of Ocean and Pacific, the Hotel Kennebec. Lincoln Park, directly across from the Kennebec, runs from Ocean Boulevard to Broadway. In the park, a portion of the Carnegie library is visible behind the Heartwell. The California National Bank of Long Beach, or Metropolitan Building, with its clock tower, corner of 1st Street and Pine Avenue, is left of the Heartwell. Behind the Metropolitan is the old city hall with its portico and the new city hall with its cupola.
