Malaysia Malaysia > Kuala Lumpur
Constructed in 1937 and designed by the British architect Arthur O. Coltman, the Clock Tower has been the central landmark of the Old Market Square (Medan Pasar Besar) ever since. It was built to commemorate the coronation of England's King George VI. When Malaysia became independent of Britain the plaques were removed. In 2012 the Clock Tower got new solar powered clocks on all four sides.
