Exterior view of Corona Avenue School. Built in 1935. Architect: Richard J. Neutra. School was designed as an addition to the existing school, this new "L-shaped wing, consisted of two kindergarten and five elementary classrooms. Bilateral ventilation and lighting came from high clerestory windows on the east above the open-porch, outdoor hallway and from the sliding glass walls on the west that opened onto the garden patios. Hedges divided each outdoor class space from its neighbors. Shade trees, adjustable awnings, and a six-foot roof-slab overhang protected the classrooms from the sun and the elements." (Hines).
