United States > California > Los Angeles County > Los AngelesThe newly constructed 4th Street Bridge spans the unpaved Los Angeles River which at this time is a stream meandering in a wash bed littered with debris. At a construction cost of $1,906,000, the bridge not only spans the river but Santa Fe and Union Pacific multiple tracks and two arterial highways - Santa Fe Ave. and Mission Rd. It is composed of four pylons supporting a 234 ft. central arch and has pedestrians stairways. Dated June 30, 1931.
