Liberty Hall was originally built in 1854 to house an abolitionist newspaper. This photo (taken in 1876) occurred just six years before the building was renovated as an opera house. Tragically, Liberty Hall was burned to the ground in 1911, which is why today's Liberty Hall in the same location does not look exactly the same. Today's Liberty Hall is a theater which screens films, holds music festivals, and rents videos.
