View of the New Diamond Market. This store was the replacement for the older Diamond Market which replaced the Diamond Courthouse in 1852. The Diamond Market - so named because Market Square was originally called the "Diamond" - was housed in a three-story Italianate building and offered more than 100 market stalls. The site was a major commerce center of Pittsburgh. May 11th, 1964.
