Big waves, resulting from a storm at sea, are shown lashing at the Manhattan Beach pier on January 9, 1940, where the outer extermity of the structure was washed away during the night. The section that went out was an extension behind the building in the background. Debris was strewn along the beach. Damage was set at $5000.
