The Monument to the Slovak National Uprising in Banská Bystrica, a monumental work by architect D. Kuzma, commemorates the busy summer months of 1944, when the city became the center of the armed uprising against fascism, the headquarters of the partisan headquarters and, after the proclamation of the restoration of the Czechoslovak Republic, the seat of the Slovak National Council.
