Acropolis of Athens. ErechtheionErechtheion (dr. Greek Ἐρέχθειον - Erechtheum Temple) is an outstanding monument of ancient Greek architecture, one of the main temples of ancient Athens, located on the Acropolis north of the Parthenon. The building dates from 421-406 years BC. e. Done in an ionic warrant. The temple is dedicated to Athena, Poseidon and the legendary Athenian king Erechtheus, which began after the death of Pericles - about 421 BC. e., Erechtheum was built in a complex environment and was completed on the eve of the collapse of Athens in 406 BC. e. It was located on the site of the mythical dispute between Athena and Poseidon for the possession of Attica. The temple was a kind of repository of the most important relics of the polis. This function passed to him from the archaic Hecatompedon, built, most likely, under Pisistratus and destroyed during the Greco-Persian wars
