High gateway against the backdrop of the Volksvleit Palace, shot from Amstotel. Hogesluis (bridge No. 246) is a monumental double ten-arch drawbridge designed by W.H. Springer in a Parisian style. In 1883, the old bridge, built in the 17th century, was replaced by the current one. Partially a drawbridge, it is decorated with decorative pieces of cast iron (from city tools), stone vases of a balustrade, stone obelisks with lanterns. The Volksvlijt door was a large glass building on Frederiksplein in Amsterdam at the place where the Nederl stands. Bank. It was built between 1859 and 1864. Arch. Cornelis Outshoorn and is inspired by the Crystal Palace in London, built for the 1851 Exhibition. In 1929, the Volksvillage Palace was destroyed by fire.
