[Half a stereo pair.] The Nelson Monument in Edinburgh was built between 1807 and 1815 in honor of the famous navigator Admiral Nelson, who defeated the French and Spanish fleets at the Battle of Trafalgar in 1805 and his own death in the same battle. The construction of the monument began almost immediately after the death of the naval commander, but because of delays in financing, they dragged on this business for a long eight years. An original telescope tower designed by architect Robert Burn is located on Calton Hill.
