This color photograph of Paris refers to the "Types of monuments, architectural and other noteworthy places in France" catalog is now available, "Detroit Publishing Company" (1905). In the edition of Baedeker's 1900 "Paris and its environs, with routes from London to Paris: Traveler guide" Republic Square, formerly known as the area Château d'Eau, described as "one of the most beautiful areas of Paris." The square was redesigned and rebuilt in the form in which it has remained to the present day, in 50-ies of the XIX century by Baron Georges Eugene Haussmann (fr. Georges Eugène Haussmann) (1809-1891.), Known for its contribution to a large-scale redevelopment and update image of the city. In the center - a bronze statue dedicated to the Third Republic, which was established in 1870 and after whom the area was named.
