Drachenburg Castle was erected in 1882-1884 by order of Baron Stephen von Sarter, a wealthy stockbroker from Bonn. The castle was built in the neo-Gothic style and is a kind of synthesis from the palace, castle and villa. It is located in the middle of a vast park, on the right bank of the Rhine, on the slopes of Mount Drachenfels, near the city of Königswinter.
