According to the sketches of Frederick II and plans by Georg Wenzeslaus von Knobelsdorffs, Johann Boumann's d. Ä. From 1747 on the southeast corner of the opera square The first new building for a Catholic church in Berlin after the Reformation. The church dedicated to the patron saint of Silesia, based on the Pantheon in Rome until 1773, is carried out as a round central building. With regard to the "Forum Fridericianum", the gable -crowned five -axle vestibule with six Ionian columns is aligned to the north. The five reliefs with biblical scenes between the columns were made in 1837 according to the designs by Georg Franz Ebenhecht by Theodor Wilhelm Achtermann, by the same artist the model for gable relief with the presentation of the adoration of the three kings (completed by Nikolaus Geiger in 1897). On the gable of the portico a Hedwigsgruppe, 1773 by Wilhelm Christian Meyer d.ä.1884-87, the dome is provided with a copper roof, a lantern and a golden cross.
