Barker Bros. is across the street. Holabird, Root & Burgee of Chicago were the architects for the Statler Center which later became The Omni and then The Wilshire Grand Hotel. Photo caption reads: "Skeleton of progress: Higher and higher go the steel beams making up "skeleton" of the new $20,000,000 Statler Hotel and Office Building at Wislhire Boulevard and Figueroa. Construction of the giant hostelry is on schedule, authorities say. It will open in April or May of next year if no unforeseen incident occurs". Photo dated: Feb. 1, 1951.
