Storgata 65, en av Tromsøs mest sentrale tomter, huset opprinnelig en beskjeden uthusbygning. House number 65, which houses Spare Bank, is one of the most visible buildings in the city. Until 1910, when they began to build the real building, there was an extension to Stengården (Bankgata 13), the home of the local entrepreneurial clan Giæver. At that time, the bank only occupied the first floor. The second is the library of Tromsø. The 2nd and 3rd floors were occupied by municipal services and the Ateneum men's club, respectively. On the 4th floor 'freemasons' held their meetings.
