The modern church was built in 1888 on the ruins of the first basilica, built in the XI - XII centuries. This is a cross-shaped temple, where the ancient Byzantine style coexists with the modern in such a way that creates the perfect aesthetic result. The interior paintings were made by Agenor Asteriadi in 1936-1939.
