Rillly la Montagne is one of the oldest village of the Champagne region. Backing onto the mountain of Rheims and overlooking vineyards, Rilly la Montagne has kept its character and traditions of a small Champagne village. On the photo, down the street is the railway crossing, and further away the church bell tower. "Rue de Villers-Allerand" was called before WW1 "Avenue de la Gare" (Railway station avenue) Please note the typical feature: several workers wearing aprons (typical of the champagne wines workers)
