Sixth Avenue, east side, from West 49th (left) to 48th (right) Street's, showing mainly the row of structures at the N.E. corner of the latter point. These are to be demolished for a new Rockefeller Center unit which will be known as the U. S. Rubber Building. To the left is the Center Theatre. The photographer is viewing southeastward from the opposite site of the Avenue. Note the surface conditions upon same resulting from subway construction underground. Forming a backdrop are two office structures in the block below, one of which is on 48th Street and the other on 47th Street. May 6, 1939
