Dubai World Trade Center is the city’s first high-rise building. The construction of the World Trade Center Tower in Dubai began in 1975. The center was opened in 1979 in the presence of Sheikh Rashid bin Saeed Al Maktoum, the then ruler of Dubai, and Queen Elizabeth II. The 39-floor World Trade Center complex includes a conference center, offices, the Hilton Hotel, as well as apartments.
