Across the street from Barker Bros. is Vets Thrift Shop, Julius Horowitt Naval Tailors, and Dean Witter & Co. In the middle, center, is the Sears store. Bank buildings include First National Bank of Long Beach and City National Bank. Oil rigs on the bluffs behind the city look like a forest of pines. The Barker Brothers Building at 215 Promenade Plaza was the headquarters building in Long Beach for department store chain. It was constructed in 1929 and is an Art Deco building. Windows are grouped in vertical strips, divided by piers and pilasters. Directly across from Barker Bros. is the Insurance Exchange Building, another Art Deco building.
