United States > New York > Manhattan Community Board 5The new 12-story Best & Co. Department Store in Fifth Avenue and East 51st Street (Shreve, Lamb & Harmon). 1947. (1950s photo). The building were here until 1972. 12-story flagship store was located next to St. Patrick's Cathedral. It was acquired by the company in 1944, from the Union Club. After it closed in late-1970, the beautiful white marble building was torn down and the Olympic Tower was built in its place.
