Acropolis of Athens. Parthenon Parthenon (dr. Greek Παρθενών - virgin clean) is a monument of ancient architecture, an ancient Greek temple located on the Athenian Acropolis, the main temple in ancient Athens, dedicated to the patroness of this city and all of Attica, the goddess Athena Virgin (Ἀθηνᾶ Παρθένος. Built in 447-438 BC. e. architect Kallikratom according to the project of Iktin and decorated in 438-431 BC. e. led by Phidias under the rule of Pericles. It is currently in a dilapidated state, restoration work is underway. The restoration of the colonnade of the northern facade was carried out in several stages. 1. In 1830, the lower rings of 5 destroyed columns were put in place. 2. In 1842-1844, the lower rings of all the destroyed columns were put in place, the 9th and 11th columns were restored to their full height (in the photo) .3. In 1923-1931, all the columns of the northern facade were restored, as well as the overlap above them.
