The corridor is closed for public viewing. The Vasari Corridor was built within five months of 1565 at the request of the Grand Duke of Tuscany Cosimo I. The building was designed by Giorgio Vasari. The Vasari Corridor section over the Ponte Vecchio Bridge has a number of large panoramic windows. They offer magnificent views of the Arno River to the Ponte Santa Trinita Bridge. The size of the windows was increased in 1939 by order of Benito Mussolini.
