Seine at night

Seine with Pont Alexandre III, during the 1900 World's Fair. Much has changed, but the view is still magical at night. The 1900 World's Fair was one of the most successful of its kind, attracting over 48 million visitors. Many so-called "pavilions", which represented the participating nations, were built especially for this purpose and later demolished. From the left to the right in the older photo, one can see: The Invalides Esplanade, the Italian Pavilion (building with the large and two smaller domes), the Pavilion of Turkey, the Pont Alexandre III, in the background the Palais du Trocadéro (the exhibition hall of the world exhibition of 1878) and on the right bank of the Seine the "medieval Paris". Although the Eiffel Tower can not be seen in the old picture, it was already built for the 1889 World's Fair (apparently it was not illuminated at that time). Only the bridge Alexandre III. has survived until today.
