The playhouse listed in 1818-21 according to designs Karl Friedrich Schinkel is the center of the symmetrical facility of the Gendarmenmarkt. The sculpture jewelry at the Schauspielhaus is carried out according to models by Christian Daniel Rauch and Christian Friedrich Tieck. On the gablefeld of the pillar porch, the fate of the Niobe is shown as a symbol of the tragedy, above it on the main facade of the winged Eros with symbols of the mourning and comedy. The central building is crowned by a plastic of the Apollon music tension.
