In 1786 the reconstruction of the Royal Palace came to an end: stone galleries were completed on three sides of the park. Victor Louis, the architect of the project, planned to close the courtyard on the south side of the colonnade of the park, crowned by a terrace. But lack of funds interrupted construction of a further stage of the foundation. To protect it from the weather to the downtime, the Duke of Orleans has allowed the construction contractor to build a wooden shed on three rows of shops connected by two covered passageways. Trade rows are called by the name of Orleans Gallery Palace Duke of Orleans owner. This is a temporary building, which stood for almost forty years, became the prototype for future indoor shopping passages of Paris. Gallery of stone and metal, 65 meters in length and 8.5 meters in width, overlapped luxurious glass dome has replaced wood in a fire 1828-1829 respectively. It housed twenty-four stores.
