March 22, 1842 at 7 pm while walking in Paris Marie-Henri Beyle, a French writer who is most important their work published under the pen name Stendhal, had a stroke. His unconscious brought to Nantes hotel Karruzel area, where he has been one of the rooming house. A few hours later, March 23, 1842, he died and never regained consciousness, perhaps by re insulta.Na the ground floor of the hotel has a café, which Parisians call "death Cafe". This name it has received, probably because of the large number of bullet marks on the walls of the façade, which appeared during the riots in 1830 or 1832 goda.Otel became the first building, which was demolished in the Karruzel area during the construction of the so-called New Louvre. Its demolition was completed October 1, 1850.
