The consecration of the synagogue on Johannisstrasse 16 took place in September 1854. The community, consisting of 700 adherents of reformism in Judaism, held ceremonies in a liberal spirit (rejection of hats, sexual segregation, the use of the German language in prayers, the introduction of a mixed choir and organ accompaniment ). The building of the synagogue was damaged during the November events of 1938, however, religious ceremonies were restored there until the summer of 1942, that is, until the complete closure of all existing synagogues in Berlin. present at the scene of the synagogue archeological excavations that sounds a bit strange, but the fact remains
