Pont des Arts (French pont des Arts or passerelle des Arts.) - the first iron bridge over the Seine River in Paris, now a pedestrian that connects a straight line the Institut de France (part of which is the famous French Academy) and the square courtyard of the Louvre Palace. The length of 155 m bridge width 11 m.On conceived as a base for the future of the hanging gardens overlooking the waters of the Seine. Napoleon Bonaparte ordered the engineer to plan the structure so that she looked like a hanging garden. Having 9 arches in its design and manufactured in cast iron, it was the first metal bridge in Paris most.Svoo name received from the Louvre Museum, which at the beginning of the XIX century was called the Palace of the Arts because of it collected in art collections. Cost of construction amounted to 787,655 francs and 65 centimes. On the day of the opening of the bridge here rushed 64,000 Parisians to be the first to cross the bridge.
