Fifth Avenue, east side, south from 52nd Street (right), showing prominently the steeples being added to St. Patrick's Cathedral. This edifice was projected by Archbishop Hughs, and the cornerstone laid in 1858. It was opened in 1879. The steeples were added in 1888. On the right is the R. C. Orphan Asylum for Boys, occupying the 52nd to 5lst Street frontage. It was founded in 1825 and incorporated in 1852. The present buildings were completed in 1851. Date: 1888
