It is the oldest building in the city of Nancy. It dates back to the beginning of the XII century. (1130-1140.). Originally it was the church tower, a building which has not been preserved. The full name of the monument stands as follows: Tower Commandery of St. John the Baptist in the old cemetery (Merovingian when there really was a cemetery). Once it was the tower in an open field, close to only a small pond. Gradually began to appear around the building, including a small chapel. But in the XIX century. all of them were destroyed. Preserved only the tower. Tower Commanderies a rare example of the Roman style to Nancy. Its walls - more than half a meter thick. It used it as a "General Staff" René II during the war against Charles the Bold. There was the Duke of interest in the Battle of Nancy.
