The upper parts of the castle are somewhat hidden in the middle of the photo, followed by the city church, and then the so -called powder tower, dominates the right. The ship - “City Bern”, built in 1861 by Escher Wys & Cie, is located near the marina Freyenhof. The photo can be quite accurately dated: the verandomable ending of the average deck of the ship was built in 1895, two years later the mural of the ship’s hull disappeared, which is visible here, with the so-called “battery strip”, in favor of a plain light gray solution. And even more precisely: in 1896, the powder tower was demolished. Thus, the photo was created in the narrow range of 1895-1896.
