This view looking north on Belmont Avenue includes the round domed Angelus Temple in the center and the surrounding area of Echo Park.Aimee Semple McPherson (1890-1944), Canadian-born evangelist in the 1920s and 1930s, founded of the Pentecostal Foursquare Church in 1927. Angelus Temple (1100 Glendale Boulevard), which was dedicated on January 1, 1923, served as McPherson's religious base until her accidental death in 1944. The temple, still the headquarters of the International Church of the Foursquare Gospel, was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1992, Building No. 92001875.
