Milan Central Station (Italian: Milano Centrale) is one of the largest railway stations in Europe. The station is made in the style of Art Deco, although it is not fully maintained in it. The central station of Milan is one of the main stations in Europe. The station was inaugurated in 1931 and replaced the old station (built in 1864), which could no longer cope with the increased passenger traffic due to the opening of the Sempione tunnel in 1906. The architect Ulisse Stacchini [it] took up the reconstruction of the station, who took it as a model Union Station in Washington. Construction took place rather slowly due to the economic crisis that erupted in Italy after the First World War. So the rise to power of Benito Mussolini radically changed the look of the station, the project itself, initially quite simple, became more and more complicated and confusing.
