Monument to the 28th US President Tomas Woodrow Wilson (Thomas Woodrow Wilson) 1856-1924. The original monument was presented by Americans of Czech and Slovak origin. It was solemnly opened on July 4, 1928 as part of the celebration of the Ten-year anniversary of the formation of Czechoslovakia. The author of the statue was Albin Pokshek, and the architect Bogumil Hübshmann. The monument was devoted to Woodrow Wilson, who as president of the United States from 1913 to 1921 and made a significant contribution to the post-war organization of Europe, including the creation of Czechoslovakia. Initially, the monument was stood opposite the historic building of Wilson Station. Shortly after in December 1941, Germany declared war to the United States, the German occupation administration ordered the German army to demolish the statue of Wilson and destroy it. On the spot, where the statue stood, in 1972-1977 a new station hall was built.
