In 1817, the former Carmelite church in the street Saint-Jean-en-Ronville (now Gambeta) was bought by the community of the Ursulines, and in its place was built the new church designed by Alexander Green with a tower-candle that resembled the tower of City Hall. This slim tower was damaged by a storm in 1876, and after the damage from German bombing October 21, 1914 and the fire that occurred later, finally collapsed. After the war it was restored only a third of its original height. In the 1960s, the church and the tower were demolished.
