Our subtropics, as academician B. L. Keller said at the plenum of the Lenin All-Union Agricultural Academy in December 1935, is not only a place of recreation, but also a place of great artistic pleasure and an original botanical school. In Sukhumi there is the “Subtropical Flora” park and botanical garden, a boulevard near the seaport, green city streets and beautiful park corners near the sanatoriums “Agudzery”, “Gulripsh”, etc.”
