Looking east down Philadelphia Street near where it intersects Greenleaf Avenue (center) in Whittier. Building currently known as Nixon plaza can be seen at right. Businesses seen include a California Bank branch and an Owl Drug drugstore. Photograph dated October 23, 1954.The Nixon Building (at right), a historical landmark in the City of Whittier, offers a unique historical feel to the area of Uptown Whittier. Located only 2 blocks away from Whittier College, the Nixon Building is the tallest building in the city and has access to numerous retail stores, dining options, and a large amount of daily foot traffic. Constructed in 1923, this registered National Historic Landmark was once home to Richard Nixon' s first law office. The Nixon Building has been newly renovated to modern standards to accomodate trendy restaurants and upscale lounges.
