Citadel Arras (French title Citadelle Arras) - fortress built by order of Louis XIV between 1667 and 1672 years. Her plan developed by the architect Vauban, famous for his fortification projects. Along with thirteen other works of Vauban, the citadel included in the list of World Heritage sites Yunesko.Eta fortress - an interesting example of military architecture of the XVII century. Fortifications were surrounded by a moat filled with water (near the river flows Krinshon). Water also had to water the horses assigned to the military corps. It was assumed that the fortress to defend against the invading enemy troops, but quickly found out that it stands in a very unfortunate from a strategic point of view of a place.
