Karanta viaduct over the river Saône (Saône) Lione.V in 1854 began construction of stone viaduct on which train on Vaise station on the right bank of the Saône could reach Perrache station on the left bank. However, due to design errors, 29 November unfinished viaduct collapsed. In order to meet this deadline, a construction company used cheap, but not aesthetic solution, its way from one bank to another I-beam. This viaduct is considered temporary, but lasted until the beginning of the XX century and was replaced only after the insistence of the mayor's office is not satisfied ugliness design. Then was elevated metal bridge, still exists today. It was only once briefly withdrawn from use when it was damaged by the retreating Nazis in the autumn of 1944.
