Zemo Avchala HPP (Zahesi) - hydroelectric power station on the Kura River in Georgia. Included in the Kura cascade. Construction began on the electrification plan in 1923, the first hydroelectric plant started up in 1927. At the station in 1927, it was installed one of the first monuments to Lenin the authorship of the sculptor ID Shadr, dismantled in 1991. In 1937 he was arrested and then shot the chief engineer of the plant Nikolay Agniashvili.V 2007 Zemo Avchala HPP was sold to the Government of Georgia with the auction. HPP equipment is outdated, in need of replacement and reconstruction.
