Madison Avenue (right), at the S. E. corner of East 38th (left) Street, showing the Fifth Church of Christ Scientist. This structure was Formerly occupied by the congregation of South Reformed Dutch Church, whopurchased it in 1890 from the 5ion Episcopal Church. A spire was mounted atop the tower at that time, tho (though) not evident at this date. To the left is a view eastward on the south side of 38th Street, to Park Avenue. Two private buildings separate the Church from the Bonar Law mansion at 37th Street. This later became the National Democratic Headquarters, while the Church site was improved with the Midston Club.
