Exterior view of the first location of Sinai Temple on the northwest corner of 12th and Valencia streets in Los Angeles. Photograph dated July, 1971. Sinai Temple was the first conservative congregation in Southern California, established in 1906. For nearly 20 years, this temple was located at 12th and Valencia Streets. A second facility, located at New Hampshire and 4th streets was designed by S. Tilden Norton and the first services were held in 1925. The synagogue served the community from that location until 1960, at which time a new temple opened in Westwood.
