Looking east from the intersection of Hope and 4th streets towards the construction site of the Crocker Tower on Bunker Hill. In the distance (center) is Angelus Plaza, a housing complex for low-income seniors, also under construction, March 1981.The Crocker Tower and its subsequent twin, the South Tower, were designed by Skidmore, Owings & Merrill and opened in 1983. When Crocker Bank merged with Wells Fargo in February 1986, this structure became the Wells Fargo Tower and the property was renamed the Wells Fargo Plaza.
